Two things that I have had a lot of as of late: tarts and time. I guess I always have time. So the story beings last Tuesday. I went to this WONDERFUL store, Orson Gygi. Now that I told you about it, the only thing I can say is that if you go, I want to go with you. My wonderful Aunt Marilyn clued me in on it and then as I told other people about my wonderful adventure, I found that I was about the only person...ever...that hadn't heard of it. Shame on all of you for not telling me that my soul-mate (store version) was out there!
Anyway. While I was there I found mini-tart pans. Since making that purchase my life has not been the same. I made chocolate tart-like things that very day. About 40 of them. Then I went over to Alli and Jake's house Thursday night and made coconut ones. Again, 40 of them...and I still want more. Next is going to be lemon. Hopefully with the recipe that my great-grandmother used. I have this thing with making treats that my predecessors made and being able to pass it on to those around me and after me.
Now with time. I had the opportunity to go and watch the Scott kids this weekend. I just love the Scott family. My favorite thing with the kids this weekend was going to the park. We went on Saturday morning and played games. You know, the classics: "mother may i?"..."red light/green light"...I was trying to push for "what time is it mr. fox?" but it was time for us to go back and get some lunch in our systems. Thank you to the Scott's for being some of my very dear and best friends.
Then today. Monday. I did some laundry and errands and then decided to enjoy the beauty of the world around me. I went to a nearby park and sat under a blossoming tree. Ate a salad for lunch. Read. Wrote in my journal. Took some snapshots. Listened to the birds. Wished I had a dog. You know...the usual. I just loved being able to sit in the sun and ponder on the blessings in my life and also the direction my life is to take. I loved being able to take a small break and enjoy the day--I've realized a lot about the need to spend time wisely. And I'm happy to say, that using time wisely (in my opinion) isn't necessarily working yourself to the bone, day in and day out, but it's being balanced, and still taking time to bask and appreciate and breathe and laugh and listen and think and notice the little things.

It's official - we have to spend time together this summer and it has to include making tarts, because I've wanted to and haven't yet - and don't know how. So deal? Deal.
