"how can you be so heartless?"

This post is for me. The title of this post is for Eileen. I think she thinks I am a mean and heartless person. And I am. And now you will see why.

Last night, my ward had an opening social. It was a good opportunity to meet others as we were placed in three smaller groups and competed against the other teams in the different events. One of those events was the egg toss. Live...or should I say...raw eggs. Don't worry, I got egg up the sleeve. Gross. Another event, leap frog. Classic three-legged-race. And the climax of this post takes place during the dizzy-running-race. We had to spin around a baseball bat TEN times. Read it....10....times! That's a lot. Then we had to run a certain length of the field. When we got there then the next person on our team could start spinning and the cycle could start again until everyone on the team got dizzy and ran.

This story in fact doesn't involve me. I succeeded to some extent and at least didn't fall over. We had Sister Brooks on our team, the wife of the first counselor in the bishopric. Another team that was nearby was the team that the bishop was on. It just so happened that Bishop and Sister Brooks were spinning at the same time. Bishop finished his 10 spins first and took off running. Since I had already finished my spinning I had the prime vision, at the other end of the field, to watch the events play out. Bishop is running. Running good and hard. However, his running isn't taking him any closer to us at the other end of the field. No, his running is taking him side-stepping all the way across the same side of the field he started on. He skillfully made it to the other side and ran, straight into dear Sister Brooks, who is spinning to her hearts content and trying with all of her might to finish all ten of them. It was like clock work. Like the movies. It was unreal. There she was, standing there, spinning, and two seconds later, flat on her back. Luckily, she was okay. Otherwise I wouldn't be laughing nearly as hard. But seriously? It was just so very funny.

I don't know if this caught the vision of the situation. Every time I have told it since, I've ended up crying and talking in my laughing/talking/can't understand Michelle voice. In fact, as I was typing, I paused to replay it in my head so I could try to accurately portray it. And I started laughing really hard. Again.

I love my ward. I love people that are good sports. I love laughing. And I hope I can always love all three and one day be that person that brings joy to someone else's life.
