another pebble for my happiness wagon

Hallelujah & Happy Friday!! Golly jeepers. This week. Such a long week. Not at all that it was long because it was bad! It was just sooooooo slooooooow. Two of my bosses have been out pretty much all week which left me a lot of time to get caught up and get things organized for when I train my replacement in a couple of weeks. But I've done all of that. And so now I update my blog.

So earlier this week, I mentioned that Shawn and I read and finished Star Girl  this week. When we read the part about Stargirl's "Happy Wagon" Shawn just loved the idea. That night he asked me how many pebbles would be in my Happy Wagon if I had one. So the next day, after I got home from work, Shawn told me he was working on a surprise for me, but it wouldn't be done for a couple of days. I guessed something...can't remember what it is now, but then it clicked. I knew exactly what he was making for me! My own Happy Wagon!! It's perfect! I absolutely love it. I more than love it! He is just the best in the whole wide world! So right now it's full of jelly beans, which is very wonderful. But it's really hard not to eat my happiness. We have a date to go pebble hunting. Then, as we come across new places or make it old places that have special meaning, I can replace one of my old, boring, generic pebbles with one that has more meaning. I love it. So much.

Yesterday, Thursday, was a beautiful day! I am absolutely loving this weather! Trying to soak up every last second of it since it will be a few years since we will enjoy it again. Shawn wanted to make Shish-ka-bobs the other night for dinner. We didn't quite have all of the goods to make them, so I worked it into our menu for this upcoming cycle. Well, last night was the night. Oh man! They were just o-so-so-good! Mushrooms!! Grilled mushrooms! How can you eat anything better?! Gosh. They were so good. While he was out grilling, Olive joined him for part of it. After a little while he brought her back inside with me so she wasn't nosing around our food. This was what happened after he brought her back in.

You can really tell who she loves as her master. When Shawn was in Chicago, I don't think I could have put Olive in her kennel to bed a second night without Shawn. While I was making dinner the night Shawn was coming home, Olive just sat on the rug and stared at the door, just waiting for Shawn to come home. She sat on his lap the entire way back home after picking him up from the airport. She just loves him. And now I sound like a dog parent. Gross. But I do love her. I can't help it. But I am not her parent.

And last but definitely not least, this week was the week that Dad and Patrick came home!!! Finally!!! I can't believe it! I just only really really really wish that Shawn and I could be home right now, with everyone to be together during this time. But it's not possible, so I will just be grateful for technology and the fact that we can exchange pictures, talk on the phone, and also FaceTime with them. FaceTime is happening tonight and I am really looking forward to it.

This week truly has proved to be a week worthy of the Happy Wagon. Oh, also! I'm getting closer and closer to finishing my book. Lincoln just has to get the Emancipation Proclamation passed in the House and Senate and then I think he unfortunately gets killed a little bit later. Oh! He actually gets killed on April 15 (Kate's Birthday...) and it's coming so soon! How chilling.

I'm also making great headway on my baby afghan that I'm making for our little baby boy. I love decreasing stitches so much more than I love increasing! haha But my goal was to finish both my book and blanket by the beginning of May so I wasn't cutting it too close. I think I will be right on track! That means after the kiddo comes I can read something that doesn't take as much brain power (I think my choice will be Little House on the Prairie. My parents gave me the set for my birthday and I never have read them all.), and I can wrap up our little baby in a blanket that took his mama a really long time to make. I'm really happy that I have been able to learn and practice a new skill & have the flexibility to do it nearly anywhere, but I must admit, I miss the quilting of a baby blanket.

Okay. The end.

Happy Weekend!
