I have a wonderful addition to my backyard. Meet my little table that I discovered at D.I. It was a steal of a deal...and I have now discovered that I have spent money and time on it that makes me wonder if it's worth it to buy something that is just brand spankin' new and all set and ready to be used. But my wondering is very short lived because I love the table and I love working on it.
I just had this conversation with my mom about the importance of work. This outdoor project (garden, table, pillows) have all added to my testimony of the importance of work. I also have had wonderful flashbacks of my class "Work and Family Relationships" that I took at BYU. Thanks, Jenet Jacobs. You changed my life. While working on my table on Monday night, I was enjoying being outside and listening to some music on Dorothy, but I just kept thinking, over and over, "What a shame to be doing all this work, alone. This is the perfect opportunity to work with someone and use the time to talk and learn and discover. I just have all of these deep thoughts and feeling about work and the important part it plays in our relationships.
Then last night, while reading my scriptures, I happened upon 2 Nephi 5:17 "And it came to pass that I, Nephi, did cause my people to be industrious, and to labor with their hands." Work is always a teaching of the Lord and his Prophets. Work is ingrained in us. Work is a cure--cures complacency, heartache, boredom, selfishness and idleness. Work creates--creates projects, cleanliness, memories, relationships, and opportunities to learn and reflect. I know that these are just some silly thoughts I've been having, but I just get so passionate about it and feel it's just so important and a good thing that I need to learn. I am grateful for my dear parents teaching me to work. And work hard. I am grateful for a job that I love, motivation to work hard every day. I am grateful for hobbies and talents that help me keep busy and work at them to improve that around me.

It looks like the table is going to be lovely!!! I'm sure it will always be "a good deal" and you will always have that sense of accomplishment every time you look at it! Way to go! And I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures of your "garden-ness"!
